Frequently Asked Questions

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We are licensed to do business in the state of Florida and are fully insured. We can provide any necessary documentation upon request.

Does chemical cleaning damage my shingles?

Absolutely not. The non-pressure chemical-based cleaning process used by Rhodes Roof Cleaning is the same method recommended by shingle manufacturers and the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association. For more information on algae discoloration and the methods recommended for its removal, please see this technical bulletin from the ARMA for more information.

Can I pressure wash my roof?

Yes, you can. However, pressure washing leads to premature granule loss which shortens the life of your roof. This has been done on many homes and businesses to remove the stains caused by mold, mildew and algae. The problem is that it only takes off the visible coating spread across the roof while leaving the roots in place. These root spores spread again almost immediately and within a year or two the roof will need to be cleaned again. Our cleaning method uses pressure less than that of a garden hose, to apply our solution. This soaking action results in a cleaning that removes not just the visible stain but also the root source. see this technical bulletin from the GAF / ELK for more information.

Can the exterior of my house be cleaned with the same non-pressure chemical process?

Yes. We can utilize a similar process to clean the entire exterior of your home, using less pressure than that of a garden hose. This method of cleaning lasts 2-3 times as long as standard pressure washing. Pressure washing the exterior surfaces of a home (with the exception of concrete driveways/sidewalks) should only be done to prepare the surface for painting.

Do you provide estimates over the phone?

Giving an immediate estimate over the phone would not be fair to us or to the customer, as It's impossible to provide an accurate estimate without first seeing the property to be cleaned. We will gladly provide a free estimate only after an initial visitation and review.

Why should I have you pressure wash my driveway/sidewalk?

The pressure washing service that we provide is safer and takes a fraction of the time compared to a typical household pressure washer. We provide our own water, use less water, and clean more thoroughly than standard methods.

Do I need to be home while the work is being done?

No. Our staff will carry out any work requested whenever it's most convenient for you, and will only need to meet with you after the work is completed to receive approval and final payment. We require no money up-front.
